The Instructional Designer role is responsible for designing instructor-led training classes on PenLink's software products for our external clients. The primary objective of this role is to design content that is impactful, engaging and enforces learning objectives through classroom experiences.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with training, product management, sales, marketing and development to assess learning objectives and create materials instructor-led classes

  • Develop interactive, effective learning programs that communicate complex processes in a simple, easy to understand manner. Use instructional design principles throughout the phases of design

  • Create check points or evaluations to measure successful learning of objectives

  • Manage the end-to-end creation and maintenance of instructor-led class content.

  • Collaborate with training team members and subject matter experts to ensure curriculum meets objectives and blends with other training curriculum and methodologies with training team members and subject matter experts to ensure curriculum meets defined instructional objectives and blends with other training curriculum and methodologies

  • Maintain and revamp existing courses to accommodate changing PenLink software advancements, customer needs, government standards or guidelines and new best practices

  • Identify the skills, knowledge, information gaps of a particular customer base and create or suggest appropriate learning experiences to close those gaps

  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the field of learning and serve as an internal leader on best practices, new solutions, and emerging trends

  • Other duties as assigned

YOUR COMPETENCIES

  • Experience using instructional design philosophies

  • Expertise in technical writing and delivery of high-quality training programs

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to communicate ideas concisely in a professional manner

  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to manage changing priorities

  • Highly proficiency in time management, planning and prioritization

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Energetic team player who also works independently

  • Fast learner who easily adapts to of our growing and evolving business environment and fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to translate business goals and objectives into realistic training curriculum

YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of instructional design experience

  • Strong PC skills and expertise in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience with learning management systems a plus

  • Law enforcement experience a plus
